Other popular spellings for Mia are “Mya” and “Miah” and the name Mia is believed to be a variant of Amelia, Maria, and Maya. Also, the name “Mia”, with its first letter of “M”, shares the distinction with the letters “A” and “E” as being the most popular first letters of girls’ first names in America!
