    Charlotte, the name of many royals from around the world, is a French diminutive of the name Charles, which in turn came from the German name Karl, meaning ‘Nobleman’; ‘masculine, strong and virile”, giving Charlotte the feminine meaning ‘Noblewoman’; ‘strong and feminine’. Charlotte also derives from the French male name of “Charlotte” which means “little Charles”, thus, in its feminine form, Charlotte also means “petite.”
